The coolest thing about social media is that it allows you to connect with people you literally have not seen in years...
Jackie and I actually went to Grad school together at the University of Denver, but I had not seen her since the day we graduated (wayyyyy back in 2006). When she contacted me for photos of her family and explained that she had just had a baby, I was so glad we were able to make it work.
